Who We Are...
'Craigy Johnson'
Craigy is an electronica addict > ever since he was a wee nipper he has messed about with all manner of keyboards/samplers/guitars/machines. Craigy leans towards the harder edges of sound, as a guitarist he would always have amps with levels at 11.5, and would use as many distortion/overdrive pedals as possible. The film 'Bladerunner' made a huge musical impact on Craigy, the masterful soundtrack by Vangelis opened up a world of hard electronic bleeps and scratches, contrasted with epic ambient melodies and breakdowns, Craigy has never looked back.
Background: Born and bred in Guisborough, Craig has lived most of his life in the North East and after a few stints in Middlesbrough, Darlington and Yarm
he is now back in his birth town.
Music: Music and art were the only subjects Craig was any good at during his school years. Classical training in guitar and piano from an early age gave him a good grounding technically and alongside Jon he served as a choirboy ( though the escapades from those times are far from angelic ) - and the intricate tonal harmonies are still a big influence.
Craigs passion for the guitar increased during his time at school and college and he developed a penchant for 'hair metal' and guitar trickery. At one time he was taught the guitar by the brother of 'Jet' ( from 'Gladiators' ) and Craig went on to feature in many failed and 'rubbish' heavy metal band projects - though he can still hold his own in the lead guitar tomfoolery stakes.
After leaving college with little desire to do anything other than to play music, Craig joined a band called 'Bad Habit' - fronted by powerful local singing talent 'Elizabeth Jane' - Craig spent several years extensively touring, playing all manner of backing guitars/keyboards/sequencing/vocals - and travelling wedged in the back of an old transit van.
During this time, electronica and dance music were just starting to creep into popular culture, and Craig started to collect the machines that made all the wonderful bleeps and squelches that defined the sound of the underground - Craig is now however a massive sound geek, and will spend hours and hours editing samples and making that perfect bassdrum...
Influences: A huge mix, inlcuding - Vangelis, J M Jarre, Yngwie J Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen, Magnum, Steve vai, Clannad, Journey, Survivor, Motorhead, Metallica, Sabbat, Helloween, Faure, Def Leppard, Gatecrasher, Underworld, Faithless, Prodigy, Chicane, Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone...

'Jon Stubbs'
Jon is a classically trained pianist and music has ran through his viens since early childhood. A gifted vocalist, Jon knows a good song when he hears one, and the Tweakies rely on a good mix of expertise when it comes to constructing a rocking track.

'Stephen Bickham'
Ste caught the synthesis bug at an early age, and he was the first of the Tweakies to use PCM drum samples - Craig and Ste would battle for synth supremecy throughout those early school years, and boy looking back now that was the most important education we ever got - the Tweakies were making music on BBC micro model B's and god... it sounded rubbish but the Tweakies got the bug...
Influences: Adrian Street, Gianfranco Bortolotti, Mikado, Thomas Kukula (THK, General Base), Evolution Records, Paul van Dyk, Gatecrasher, Chicane, Vangelis, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Stock, Aitken & Waterman (heh!)
